Meeting Needs

Here at First Baptist Bluffton we know there are people in our community and around the world in need. This is a sample of how we are meeting the needs we know of. Join us as we help our community and the world.

To help combat hunger, First Baptist Bluffton offers a food distribution ministry that joins with other Lowcountry area organizations in serving needy people in our community.  It is open on Saturday mornings from 9 till 11. Especially during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, the Shepherd's Closet gives food baskets to many families who otherwise would not have a meal.

Many people living in our community have a huge need: the need to learn English. We can meet that need and reach them with the Gospel through English as a Second Language (ESL). Please join with us in praying that many people will find hope in Jesus Christ and that lives will be changed through this ministry. Free registration and classes begin in September, at 5.30 pm, and will be meeting in the church office. There are three levels: beginning, intermediate and advanced. Awana for children will be meeting at the same time, so children can attend Awana while parents learn English.

Every fall and spring we partner with MIchael C. Riley Elementary School and offer the Good News Club to nearly 80 students.  Be on the lookout for upcoming opportunities to impact a child's life and eternity.

On the second Wednesday of every month First Baptist Bluffton provides a meal primarily for residents of our local assisted living facilities, but everyone is welcome! If you are interested in helping out, send us an email!  Bring your favorite side dish or a dessert. Hope to see you there!
